5 star Ciragan Palace Kempiski Istanbul luxury hotel is a formerly genuine Ottoman Imperial Palace which is ideally located in the center of the city on the shores of the Bosphorus with a magnificient view of ancient
Istanbul.
The palace was demolished and rebuilt several times within centuries, the foundations of the present palace were laid when Sultan Abdulmecid decided to move his official residence to Dolmabahce Palace in 1855, the Ciragan Palace Istanbul was replaced by an imposing stone edifice designed by Nigogos Balian, however due to the financial problems and unexpected attempts, only the half of the palace’s construction could be finished.
During Abdulaziz’s reign, the construction was completed in 1857. Sultan sent several artists to Spain and North Africa to make drawings of the famous buildings over there. According to the historical resources, after the artists’ return with the drawings, Abdulaziz interfered so much with the design, the plans were changed 20 times before he was approved.
Only the palace doors are worth
one thousand gold pieces each, they were so admired by Kaiser Wilhelm that some where presented to him as a gift and stand today in Berlin museum. The cost of the total construction was five million Ottoman Gold Liras. But Sultan Abdulaziz lived here just for a few months, after that he found the Palace too damp to stay in and moved out again.
